Rebuilding Day 2012 is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2012.

Rebuilding Day 2011 took place on Saturday, April 30, 2011. More than 350 volunteers from 18 different groups worked on 13 different projects that included exterior painting, yard and brush cleanup, landscaping, interior painting, carpentry, electrical and minor plumbing repairs.

Rebuilding Together Fairfield County is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, volunteer organization that works in partnership with local sponsors and volunteer groups to preserve and revitalize houses and communities in Fairfield County, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, with disabilities or who are families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence. Our goal is to make a sustainable impact on their houses as well as on their lives, in partnership with the communities we serve, and to do so without cost to those we are able to help.

We are seeking projects to be worked on throughout 2012. We are also looking for individual volunteers or groups of volunteers interested in working with Rebuilding Together Fairfield County. Contact our office at (203) 921-1792. Projects undertaken may include yard cleanup, interior and/or exterior painting, masonry, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.

Homeowner applications are being accepted for our 2011 rehabilitation efforts.

New volunteer groups and teams are always welcome. If you are interested in forming at team, please contact our office at (203) 921-1792.

Our Heroes at Home Project Fall 2011 began on September 10, 2011 at a 35 year old Afghanistan War Marine veteran's home in Norwalk. Volunteers from Westbridge Coalition replaced most of the first floor windows in the home as well as a new rear storm door, scraped and painted the front porch and steps, repaired and tiled the kitchen and first floor bathroom floors, framed and sheetrocked selected areas in the kitchen and dining room as well as repaired the furnace and hot water systems to supply heat and sufficient hot water to the first floor radiators and plumbing fixtures.

The Heroes at Home program is a partnership between Rebuilding Together and Sears Holdings. The goal of the program is to make critical home repairs and modifications for past and present U.S. service members and their families.
