Saturday, April 28, 2012 was Rebuilding Day 2012. A total of 12 teams comprised of about 200 volunteers worked on 9 different projects throughout lower Fairfield County. The weather cooperated with sunshine and about normal tempratures to create great working conditions for both interior and exteriors projects alike.

Rebuilding Day 2013 is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2013.

Rebuilding Together Fairfield County is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, volunteer organization that works in partnership with local sponsors and volunteer groups to preserve and revitalize houses and communities in Fairfield County, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, with disabilities or who are families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence. Our goal is to make a sustainable impact on their houses as well as on their lives, in partnership with the communities we serve, and to do so without cost to those we are able to help.

We are seeking projects to be worked on throughout 2012 and into 2013. We are also looking for individual volunteers or groups of volunteers interested in working with Rebuilding Together Fairfield County. Contact our office at (203) 921-1792. Projects undertaken may include yard cleanup, interior and/or exterior painting, masonry, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.

Homeowner applications are being accepted for our 2012/2013 rehabilitation efforts.

Our Spring 2012 Heroes at Home Projects began on April 14, 2012 at a 48 year old Army National Guard veteran's home in Stamford and on April 28, work expanded to include an 87 year old WWII Navy Veteran's widow's home in Greenwich as well as 89 year old WWII Army Veteran's widow's home in Stamford. Volunteers from Westbridge Coalition, The Hyatt Regency Greenwich and Navy League of the United States & Navy Recruiting performed multiple tasks including brush clearing, landscaping, electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs as well as general cleaning and painting.

The Heroes at Home program is a partnership between Rebuilding Together and Sears Holdings. The goal of the program is to make critical home repairs and modifications for past and present U.S. service members and their families.
