Heroes at Home/Rebuilding Together Day 2008 occurred on Sunday, October 26 at the home of a veteran in Stamford who suffered injuries while on active duty during WWII. On a bright, sunny autumn day, a group of about 30 Navy Seal candidates volunteered to help scrape, sand and paint several exterior porches as well as the exterior of a detached garage.

The Heroes at Home program is a partnership between Rebuilding Together and Sears Holdings. The goal of the program is to make critical home repairs and modifications for past and present U.S. service members and their families.

Rebuilding Day 2009 has been set for Saturday, April 25, 2009. We are also scheduling work on several new projects through November 30, 2008 so if you have a group of volunteers interested in working with Rebuilding Together Stamford/Greenwich during that time period, please contact our office at (203) 921-1792. Projects undertaken may include yard cleanups, interior and exterior painting jobs, masonry, carpentry and electrical repairs.

Rebuilding Together Stamford/Greenwich is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, volunteer organization that works in partnership with local sponsors and volunteer groups to repair and renovate the homes of low-income elderly, disabled, and families with children in Stamford & Greenwich, Connecticut. There is no cost to qualified homeowners for the services we provide.

Homeowner applications are now being accepted for our Spring 2009 rehabilitation efforts.

New volunteer groups and teams are also being sought at this time. If you are interested in forming at team, please contact our office at (203) 921-1792.

Rebuilding Day 2008 took place on Saturday, April 26th, 2008! We had approximately 13 teams of volunteers working on 14 projects throughout the Stamford/Greenwich area. Thanks to almost perfect weather, we had a wonderful day of volunteering with more than 300 people who turned out to work on a variety of projects that included exterior and interior painting, yard cleanup, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs. Many thanks to all who participated by donating their time and skills to make Rebuilding Day 2008 one of our most successful days in several years!
